On the 2nd of May, the u11 Hammerheads competed at the modified Sydney East trials held at Endeavour Sports High School. The boys played with passion, toughness and showed great sportsmanship. They played three 18-minute games with no breaks. We won 1 and lost 2 games on the day.
Three members from our team were selected for the Sydney East training squad!

Well done boys and team!!

The Sutherland/Engadine Hammerheads went down to the knee-shaving artificial turf of Endeavour High to take on the rest of the Sydney East region in the 12 years league competition. Having demolished the Rabbits/Tigers in the first game at the original carnival coaches were keen to see us against the highly rated Cronulla Sharks in the first game. And a cracker it proved to be, with quality football throughout. The Sharks beat the Hammerheads (!!) after a sole late try with a minute left on the clock. And that proved to be the only loss of the day as we then defeated the Dragons and Bulldogs to finish our afternoon off. The new format and reduced timeframe didn't allow for finals games.
The quality of footballers present in Sutherland and Engadine Zones was more than demonstrated when 8 of the 17 players in the Hammerheads were chosen to come back to the final trial day. This is an incredible effort and the entire squad is to be congratulated for their discipline and commitment on the day.
Trialists proceeding to the SE squad were:
Well done to the entire team for the effort, energy and sportsmanship. They are wonderful representatives of or Zone/s.
